Okay, so who’s writing this journal anyway? (Sure, we all say blog, but you and I know it’s really just journaling online, which is kind of like keeping a diary, only without the expectation of privacy, and of course, the ridiculous sounding name diary.) My name is Will Wenzel, and I operate Focus Photography with my wife Lucia in Portland, Maine. Focus is a boutique studio located on Commercial Street on the edge of Portland’s Old Port. You can visit our website here.
Bio: in 1974, my father built a darkroom in his basement office at our house, and the mystery of photography took hold of me. As a child, the darkroom was a total fantasy room - part mad science, with red lights and chemicals, and part tree house or fort, where no one could enter once the experiments had begun. Our studio has been completely digital since 2001, and though I love the flexibility of processing our images while sitting on the couch at home, there are a lot of times when I miss that amazing magic of watching images appear on the blank sheets in the develop mix.
The links and icons of membership groups - it’s kind of like nascar branding for photographers….
